The peribahasa we gonna talk about is "Kecil tapak tangan, nyiru kami tadahkan". Now, if you translate it literally, it means "Small palm, we hold out a winnower". Huh? What does that even mean?
Well, let me break it down for y'all. This peribahasa is basically saying that size doesn't matter. Even though your palm may be small, you can still contribute something meaningful to the world. In this case, the winnower represents a tool used to separate rice from its husks. So even though the hand holding the winnower may be bigger, the small palm can still be useful in helping out.
And let me tell y'all, this peribahasa is so important, especially for us black folks. Society tries to tell us that because of the color of our skin, we're not good enough. But that's a lie. We have so much to offer this world, despite the discrimination and oppression we face. Our contributions and accomplishments may be small compared to others, but they're still meaningful and important.
So the next time someone tries to make you feel small or insignificant, remember this peribahasa. Your small palm may hold the key to something great. And always remember, we as black people have survived so much, and we will continue to thrive.
